  • Analyze blueprints, specification, proposals, and review site conditions to determine scope of work and prepare takeoff with quantities to calculate material, equipment, production, and labor estimates.
  • Help build and grow customer base. Very similar to a sales role. 
  • Seek bid opportunities via established customer network, utilize Construct-Connect*Insight service, and phone or web inquiries.
  • Prepare bid packages, estimates, and analysis of subcontractor bids for projects of any size or complexity.
  • Be able to bid and manage multiple jobs concurrently.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, Lead Estimator, and others to discuss and formulate estimates and submit proposals.
  • Visit project sites to monitor progress, update schedules, resolve issues, and coordinate resources with the Construction Manager.
  • Management of contracted projects including but not limited to; see that all safety practices are followed throughout the construction, create and update project schedules, assist foreperson with payroll and progress reporting, and create monthly billings.
  • Review job cost daily-weekly-monthly and upon completion, work with commercial crew to manage and build project, manage and price change orders, oversee project subcontractors and vendors.
  • Work with owners and/or prime contractors to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Review job progress/production with estimate and confer with Lead Estimator as needed.
  • Assist Lead Estimator as needed on other projects with field measurements, mileages, material sourcing.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, HCSS Heavy Bid, ViewPoint, and other applications such as Primavera and Trimble.
  • Willingness to work in a TEAM environment and provide strong leadership skills.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor(s).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Five years construction and/or estimating experience; or an equivalent of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute, rate ration, percent, land to draw, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • To perform this job successfully, and individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Microsoft Office and various Database applications.
