Summary:
The Environmental Manager administers the plant environmental program following federal and state environmental laws and regulations. This position ensures ongoing environmental compliance and foster best practice in all operations. The position implements environmental policies and practices, supports development of environmental strategies to meet targets, and deploys tools and systems to monitor performance and strategic outcomes.
What you’ll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Evaluates site environmental performance, identifies corrective actions through audits, and implements follow-up assessments.
- Serves as the corporate contact with regulatory and community stakeholders relating to environmental matters and supports individual sites on these matters.
- Participates in projects involving environmental issues including contact with regulatory agencies, and accompanies inspectors during inspections.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental permits and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Assists regulatory agencies by providing information and assistance.
- Completes, administers, and assists in the preparation of various air quality reports/renewals.
- Contracts with training consultants and purchases cost-effectively training media.
- Coordinates and supervises stack testing activities and reviews/approves all stack testing reports.
- Completes, administers, and assists with various surveys and questionnaires from internal and external sources.
- Performs audits of the monitoring systems including data acquisition systems, and maintain/administer changes.
- Works with Waste Fuels Manager to provide daily coverage of essential daily functions.
- Coordinates all training efforts and goals with the Waste Fuels Manager and Manager of Environmental Affairs.
- Obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications for plant environmental compliance, including but not limited to Licensed Wastewater Facility Operators, and Certified Operator in accordance with APC&EC Regulation No. 23, section 264.16(f), etc.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental resource management or related field required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental field is required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in cement, mining, or related industry preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in working with regulatory agencies preferred
- Demonstrated written communication skills
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to lead/manage others
- Excellent organizational skills including ability to plan
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills
- Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety and environmental laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of environmental programs, policies and practices applicable to a cement manufacturing environment.
