Key responsibilities (essential duties and functions)
- Assist construction site workers in grading and underground operations
- Interpret survey stakes and plans to provide control ahead of grading and underground operations
- Inform the foreman of discrepancies between the plans and site conditions
- Collaborate with foreman to maintain as-built drawings
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines
- Interact with customers and document any changes to scope of work
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team
- Strong work ethic
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Five (5) or more years of construction experience encompassing major sitework, utilities and strong grading background.
- GPS experience a plus (not required)
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Report to work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Knowledge of slopes and lasers.
- Ability to read stakes.
- Ability to think ahead, anticipate potential situations and provide effective solutions to conflicts that arise during the course of business.
- Familiarity with local site conditions, agency standards.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and documents.
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures.
- Ability to be self-sufficient and perform tasks and duties without immediate supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to wear and use proper PPE at all times.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching and climbing
- Position will occasionally require climbing of ladders and steps.
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
