  • Ensure the cost-effective purchase and timely delivery of poly bags for the material produced at our sites. This involves forecasting demands/timing of bags needed at the sites
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
  • Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
  • Prepare bid awards requiring approval
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time
  • Up to 20% travel
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Master’s degree (M.A.) a plus; or equivalent of five (5) years of progressive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous management experience in purchasing in production/manufacturing
  • Former P & L experience is beneficial
  • Strong leadership skills while maintaining a team atmosphere
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate with every level of the organization, internal customers, vendors and clients effectively
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient computer skills with abilities and knowledge of internet web-based management tools and Microsoft Office applications
