- Ensure the cost-effective purchase and timely delivery of poly bags for the material produced at our sites. This involves forecasting demands/timing of bags needed at the sites
- Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
- Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
- Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
- Prepare bid awards requiring approval
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time
- Up to 20% travel
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Master’s degree (M.A.) a plus; or equivalent of five (5) years of progressive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous management experience in purchasing in production/manufacturing
- Former P & L experience is beneficial
- Strong leadership skills while maintaining a team atmosphere
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate with every level of the organization, internal customers, vendors and clients effectively
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proficient computer skills with abilities and knowledge of internet web-based management tools and Microsoft Office applications
