  • Assign work activities amongst department personnel based upon demand
  • Work with the Production Manager to ensure all steel designs are fabricated in accordance with product drawings at a minimum of one day prior to scheduled production
  • Examine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met
  • Deliver completed cage designs with accessories attached to the production floor
  • Ensure all fabrication equipment is operating as designed including all associated safety features
  • Train and develop steel shop personnel on all activities & equipment associated with steel fabrication
  • Work with Engineering to interpret drawing details, resolve any concerns/questions and communicate details to shop personnel
  • Continuously look for ways to improve department efficiency, eliminate waste and reduce costs
  • All other duties as may be required on an as needed basis
  • High school diploma / equivalent
  • Previous steel fabrication experience regarding cutting, bending and tying rebar preferred
  • Must have at least 2 years of related work experience in steel reinforcement activities
  • Experience with operating a rebar shear/cutter
  • Experience with operating a rebar bender
  • Ability to read/write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, fractions)
  • Ability to read and interpret steel design drawings
  • Working knowledge of a tape measure/hand ruler
  • Leadership skills in terms of prioritizing tasks, train/develop personnel and schedule/assign activities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizations skills
